Willie Mae was married to Tommy Lee Roper they had four children Gary Roper, Greta Garrison (Jimmy), Angelina Floyd (Alex Simpson) all of Cincinnati who will cherish her memories. Lillie Mae Roper preceded her in death.

In 1969 Willie Mae married Bobby Lee Stevenson, who preceded her in death in 2002. He was the love of her life and they raised their family in Rockford. Illinois. They were long-time members of Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Namon Kline followed by Pastor Calvin Malone. There she was known as Mother Stevenson because she was on the Mother's Board. She started the Missionary Board. She sang in the choir and was involved in a lot of different organizations. The Jerusalem members were truly a part of her large extended second family, which she loved very much.  She had a very close bond with Joyce and Heather Thomas and their mother, Mother Thomas. Willie Mae moved to Cincinnati to be with her children and she joined New Prospect Baptist church under the leadership of Pastor Damon Lynch III. Mother Stevenson looked forward to attending weekly services.

Our Mother worked for over 20 years at Swedish American Hospital in Central Supply and then at Rockford Public Schools in the cafeteria. Our Mother had a strong relationship with God, she read the Bible, Daily word and prayed every day. She encouraged her family to do the same. She loved holidays, family gatherings, and vacations. She loved listening to Gospel music as well as The Blues.
