Eva Metcalf Obituary

Eva Lois Slaughter being one of 20 children, was born to parents Curtis & Annie Mae Slaughter on December 3rd, 1944 in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Raised in Earle Arkansas, her family then moved to Forrest City, Arkansas.  At the age of 16, she married Milton Metcalf, himself being 18 years old. Together they relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio raising 5 children, and being together for 53 years. Eva was a faithful and devoted wife, mother and friend to many.

She was a warm and caring woman, caring for the needs of others in the healthcare industry.  She worked and volunteered at the schools of her children, always being close by.  45 years ago, Eva made one of the most important decisions she could make, she chose to dedicate her life to Jehovah.  So more than caring for others physically, she expressed her love for all by sharing her faith and Bible knowledge to people at every opportunity.

She enjoyed good times with family & friends, traveling, her plants and gardening. She was loving, generous, self-sacrificing and a jokester.  Eva always had a story to tell about life in general or her own life’s experiences of growing up in an era of having to work and pick cotton at the young age of 4 beside her older siblings.

Eva would always say something in a joking manner that brought laughter to many.  However, she also knew how to take care of business.  Eva was refreshingly honest and straight forward yet her utterances were “Always with graciousness, seasoned with salt”.  (Colossians 4:6)   She loved everyone, but most of all, she loved Jehovah.  Her firm belief in the resurrection hope and prospect of being part of Jehovah’s promise to restore the earth to paradise gave her the strength to remain loyal and endure to the end.

Eva is preceded by: Husband – Milton Metcalf Sr. ; Son – Milton Metcalf Jr.; Great Granddaughter – Ava Lisette Brown and 10 siblings

She leaves to cherish her memory:  daughters: Terrie Evans (husband Roy) Garland, Texas & Darnetta Metcalf of Cincinnati, Ohio; sons: Charles Metcalf Sr. & Kevin Metcalf Sr. (wife Libra) all of Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; siblings:  Victoria Tittle, Herman Tittle, Gloria Brown, Marie Brown & David Slaughter of (Springfield, Illinois); Beatrice Ferrell (Willy) & Larry Slaughter of Forrest City, Arkansas. Gail Mosley (W.
