Cozetta Brown Obituary

Cozetta was born December 24, 1948, to Walker Averiett and Sadie Averiett (nee Curry). She was the fifth of six children. Cozetta went Home to be with The Most High God, Thursday, May 28, 2020.

Cozetta lived a life filled with love and compassion for others. Putting God first in her life, she was blessed to give of herself to help others. Cozetta put her family before herself, and there was nothing she wouldn't do for anyone.

Cozetta attended South High School in Akron, Ohio, University of Akron and Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She worked as a telephone operator with Ohio Bell in Akron, then Pittsburg Plate Glass Co. in Barberton, Ohio; Proctor and Gamble, Cincinnati Bell, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Cozetta was very much involved in the community and the education of her children. She served on the mayor's task force, and as president and vice president of the PTA's of the local school district.

Cozetta had a gift for writing. She used that gift to worship and serve God by writing Christmas and Easter plays for her church. The young children in her Sunday School Class would look forward to being cast in her plays every year around those holidays.

Cozetta enjoyed cooking, especially around the holidays, when she would make yeast rolls from scratch that everybody loved. She loved family gatherings, with seven children and fifteen grandchildren.

We are always attending someone's graduation, whether it be in Ohio or Texas.

Cozetta leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Greg Brown; her fond children; Donald G. (Julie) Brown, Donayale (Byron) Shaw, Stephanie Brown, Kristina Brown, Kimberly Brown, Vanessa Brown, and Brittany Brown, her devoted brothers Benny Averiett, and Joseph Averiett, beloved sister Frances Wilson; affectionate niece, (more like her baby sister), Teresa Zuras; her other adoring survivors, fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
