Mr. Kary Chappell Obituary

Kary was born on April 4, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Charles and Sarah Chappell. Kary passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2019 at Jewish Hospital Kenwood with his family by his side. Kary accepted Christ and served the Lord faithfully until his death. He was a well loved member of New Mission Missionary Baptist Church.

Kary was one of 12 children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alfonso Chappell; and sisters, Patricia Snicey and Candace Collins. He graduated from Robert A. Taft High School and loved the colors green and gold. He completed one semester at Cincinnati State College.

Kary was married to Addie Jones and from this union were four children; Kelvin, Kary Jr., Kesha and Will. He has two other sons, Kory Chappell and Aaron White. He married Dora George in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 22, 2015 and gained two stepdaughters, Cherise and Melana and seven grandchildren.

Kary joined New Mission several years ago. He was a long time and faithful member. Kary served on various ministries within the church. He was a member of the Men's Ministry, Van Ministry, Second Chance Program Ministry and Black/Multi Cultural History Ministry. He was also a Hoxworth Center blood donor. Kary had a great love for the Narcotic Anonymous Community and he facilitated a weekly Tuesday evening meeting at one of the church houses. Kary was 22 years clean from drugs and served as a sponsor and participated in a lot of Narcotic Anonymous activities.

Kary had an incredible work ethic and a commitment to work that lasted his entire life. He worked several years at P&G, Lowe's, Home Depot, and Towne Taxi. He enjoyed transporting people around to different destinations and befriended many as family members they loved him the same way. Kary always called his children every Saturday and his siblings every Sunday. He called his nieces and nephews on their birthday, he never forgot birthdays. His brother Junie, called him daily with much love. He was a fighter and stopped smoking cigarettes eight years ago.

Due to his passion and commitment for the community, he became an eye and tissue donor. The Life Center reported that his tissue was able to help 60 people and his eyes were able help 2 people with his corneas. He was a faithful volunteer with the Unofficial Juvenile Court Program. He served as a probation officer to help adolescents to stay out of the court system. Kary had a love for the bowling community and was in two leagues. He served as president of the QCWA League and had a lifetime high score of 279. Kary was an avid card player; he had a love for poker, bid whist and pinochle. He and his wife, who love cards as well, won a bid whist tournament in Cincinnati.

Kary leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of three years, Dora George-Chappell; six children, Kelvin Chappell (Alexis), Kary Chappell Jr, (Tammy), Kesha Chappell-Duck (Maurice), Will Chappell (Donise), Kory Chappell (Brandy) and Aaron White (Chantal); his siblings are Joe Mallory (Eunice) from Boston, Massachusetts, Daisy King (Ronnie) from Boston, Massachusetts, Alice Jackson (Bobby), Charles Chappell Jr, (Brenda), Ruby Samuels (Benny), Marianne Caldwell (Larry), Denise Jones (Darryl) and Keith Chappell (Janice); 41 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren

Kary enjoyed spending time with his family and a great supporter of the Cincinnati Bengals. He was an adoring and devoted husband, a dutiful dad, a proud grandfather, a supportive sibling and a loving uncle. Most importantly, he served the Lord, both in and outside of the church. He touched the lives of many through serving as he labored in Christian love to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Well Done Kary, Well Done!
