Ida Beatrice Mills

Ida Beatrice Mills (Bea) was born on July 16, 1942 in Sardis, Alabama to Sophronia Landers and Ulma Shannon. Bea moved from Alabama to Cincinnati, Ohio with her mother and her sister at the age of 3 years old. Bea went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2019. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sophronia Landers (Ma Fronie); father, Ulma Shannon; husband, Crosby Knox (CL); sisters, Annie Thurmond (Honey) and Ruby Shields; her grandmother, Lola Bates; uncle, Albert Landers (Coon); niece, La’Manda Wellington-Powers; and her best friend, Diane Malachi.

Bea was a hard worker. She worked at Superior Linen where she was also a union steward for over 30 years and retired from there. She kept the financial books for her husband’s bar called “The Interlude” in Kentucky. She always lended a helping hand to friends, family and strangers. She loved music, dancing and just having fun. She said what she meant; and meant what she said. She always said, “Baby, you don’t have to look how you feel.”  And she never did look how she felt.

Bea is survived by her daughter, Linda Mills (Punkin); granddaughters, Latisha Lattimore (Tisha Nish) and Angelina Mills (Tiki); her great grandchildren, Camren Cobb (Nooter Pooter Pudding in the Pie apple of his grandma eye), Kamara Cobb (Mara Tara), Ta’teyana Cure (Tate Wate Boom Boom) and Zion Mills (her little hero); and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends that all loved her very dearly.

Visitation is from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, on  Friday, April 26, 2019, at the Walker Funeral Home - Walnut Hills  Chapel, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati  (45206).  The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, 3701 Vine Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45220.
